39Dollar Glasses.com Review and Giveaway!

Eyeglasses can be expensive.

Thankfully, so far, only Dakotapastor and Dakotateen wear glasses. But, when they need new glasses, even with insurance, we end up paying well over $100 for a pair of single vision glasses. And, once, when a pair of glasses broke beyond repair in between the two years of eyeglass coverage that each pair is supposed to last for, the out of pocket cost for a new pair was going to be a staggering $300!

When I first heard of the ecommerce supplier of discount eyeglasses , 39DollarGlasses.com, I was skeptical. After all, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

So I checked out the website and was impressed to see that 39DollarGlasses is doctor owned, meaning that this company cares for your eyes just as much as your local eye care clinic does.

The process is simple. Simply see your local eye care professional for an eye exam. Then, ask for your prescription, go home and log onto 39DollarGlasses.com.

We decided to order Dakotateen a new pair of glasses to keep as a spare. His after school job is at an electric motor shop and I’m sure eventually his glasses will become a workplace casualty! He went onto the website and chose this pair of Black metal Eyeglasses.

From there, the order process was simple. Simply enter the values of your eyeglass prescription (by law you have the right to fill your eyeglass prescription wherever you want to! There are benefits to ordering from a local shop, such as free repairs and adjustments, but keep in mind that you are paying for these services.) You also need to perform a simple pupil distance measurement and place your order.

Surprisingly, the glasses really were $39! We did choose to add the anti-scratch and anti-glare coating package which added an additional $24.95 to out total, bringing the cost of his glasses to $63.95. With our insurance coverage, the same package last year cost us just under $200, so this is a significant savings!

But what about the service? I placed our order in the late evening of November 9. Since I was placing the order on my iPad, I made a slight error on the prescription measurements. However, the clever staff at 39DollarGlasses.com picked up on my error and emailed me for clarification. I emailed them back the correct values on Monday, November 12, and our glasses arrived in the mail on Friday the 16th. . .and shipping was free!

The moment of truth had arrived! What were we going to think of discount eyeglasses? Upon opening the package I was delighted!

The glasses were packed in a soft suede cloth drawstring pouch inside a very nice clamshell hard case. The glasses were also packaged with a nice cleaning cloth (Dakotateen loves these) and a compact eyeglass repair kit on a handy keychain! What a nice touch!

As for the glasses, they fit Dakotateen perfectly and he says the prescription feels identical to his current pair. The glasses did not feel flimsy or cheap at all. . . if anything, they feel very sturdy!

We will be buying our next pair of glasses at 39DollarGlasses.com!
