Back to School, Back to Routine
Dakotapastor stayed on in Minnesota with a set of little girls who splashed in a lake and fished for a few more days while I returned home to ship four boys off to three schools. Our youngest is a trooper as he had his first day in his third new school in four years. Our district just re- drew boundaries, so many students are new to schools this year. We also have one starting middle school, a Freshman and a Senior.
That is a lot of shuttling to schools, and we add a new daycare drop off next week as well.
But, at least our kids don’t ride the school bus. Thanks to some mismanagement and a shortage of drivers, the company that the district contracts the school busses from has managed to make two days of school a bussing nightmare. Students are having to remind drivers of their routes, middle school students are waiting over an hour for their busses after school and communication with parents has been non-existent. This is unacceptable.
I’m busy at work planning a our biggest fundraiser, which occurs on Thanksgiving Day morning. My holiday will never be the same!
I’m working on working on my fitness level and hopefully even slimming down a bit. Tonight I took the first step, of actually leaving the house and making it to the YMCA in time for some deep water aerobics. I may regret that tomorrow, but I needed to do it. For me. For my family.
I’m ready for dakotapastor and the not-so-baby girls to return, but I’m relishing my time alone with the boys. Last night we took a two hour drivers ed training ride together. When four boys are trapped in a minivan, eventually they talk to Mom. #winning
