Baking With (or in Spite of) Mom!
Mondays are generally Dakotapastor’s day off. This works out well, as I have Bible study at church on Monday mornings, and I can choose to bring the girls along or not. The girls generally stay with Dakotapastor and they go on a long walk or adventure somewhere. We spend Monday afternoons watching movies, going shopping, or running errands. I’m generally not on the blog much (I’m sure you noticed.)
This Monday we sat around after lunch and Dakotapastor suggested to the girls that we bake cookies.
Hmmm. Maybe Dakotapastor did not get the memo.
Well, I bake bread, but cookies are a stretch.
But, the minute he suggested it, their eyes lit right up!
“Cookies!” they shouted.
So, I headed for my pantry and pulled our my staples. . .my emergency rations. . .my just in case I have to bake cookies “Old Faithfuls”–boxed cookie mixes.
Dakotapastor laughed and said, “I was thinking something more along the lines of chocolate chip cookies. From scratch. You can bake cookies from scratch, right?”
The truth is, I can bake. I just don’t enjoy it.
However, there is no masking the fact that my little girls do love baking. That means we’re just going to have to get some flour on our faces around here, and make some great memories!

Yes, even if I don’t like it. . .I have to be in some of the pictures!

My secret is out. . .I never measure vanilla when I bake. . .If I bake.

They really did all of the mixing. . .and without a mixer!

Things got kind of tough!

- Big brothers came home to a great surprise!
Chime in! What do your children inspire you to do that you may not enjoy. . .but they do?
So did you use the recipe that was always taped to the cabinet door? I don’t always like to bake either and i always made sure you or Wendy were there to help put cookies on the cookie sheet. I’ve been thinking about doing some baking for Christmas gifts and to enjoy ourselves but I think I will have to start soon with that. I have bananas in the freezer to make cake or bread with.
I was too lazy to pull out my cookbook for the recipe on the door. But I used the Nestle Toll House recipe on the chocolate chip bag. It was good:)

Your kids are beautiful. I can relate to how our children’s joy makes the mundane bearable and sometimes magical.

Hello fellow ND blogger!
I’m naturally an introvert and would socialize much less if it weren’t for wanting to get my little ones out to play with other kids. It’s as important for me as it is for them, though, so I suppose it’s good that they inspire me that way!

I’ve discovered that I am an introvert as well, which took me by surprise, as I always imagined myself an extrovert! the kids keep me pressing out of my comfort zone!

Exercise! My kids love it when we do jumping jacks, sit ups, and stretch together. I’m usually happy when I get a chance to sit down and relax but they keep me on my toes, gotta love them!
