PhotoDropper Plug-In for WordPress, plus a VP Nod

Ok, I’ve been on the hunt for a cool blogroll plug-in that would act like my Blogger blogroll did. And I finally found one in WP Social Blogroll (yay, I’m no longer wistfully longing for my “old” blogroll!). But, while I was searching, I found a new, even cooler, plug-in!

Everyone knows that blogs are a visual medium. Blog gurus are quick to point out that every post should be paired with at least one image. That is super advice. However, I am a writer. I’m only an OK photographer. I know Photoshop enough to be dangerous, but I don’t love it. Sometimes, I write about something (like WordPress plug-ins) that don’t lend themselves to an image, at least not one that I have in my iPhoto library. So, sometimes I turn to free (‘m cheap) stock photos. The problem is, it can take a long time to sort through photo sites. I don’t always understand the licensing or how to attribute the photos. I’m a writer.

Enter PhotoDropper. This clever plug-in searches for Creative Commons license photos for you, gives you options and then adds the attribution for you! How cool is that?

So, I had to play with it. And I wanted to see if it would work to even find breaking news kind of photos. So, here is Mitt Romney’s nod for his Vice Presidential Running Mate: And, I’ve heard rumors from the left commenting that he looks like Eddie Munster (That’s all they have?) But I don’t think so, and PhotoDropper found the photographic proof!

How easy was that?

Don’t believe me? Watch it in action. (Oh, and it is at my favorite price point! Free!)
