Sometimes mothering does not play by the rules.
Sometimes you think you have everything figured out, and then God throws you a curve ball, to make sure that you are on your toes.
Most of the time, these parenting challenges make you stronger, make you a better parent, or a better friend, or just better.
The fact is, my children are in four distinct developmental stages, and while that is really fun, some days it feels overwhelming. Some days I feel like I cannot possibly meet all of the needs of all of them. Some days I feel pulled in a million directions. Many days I feel that no matter the activity I choose, it will be either above or below interest or ability level for one or more of my kids. And that is hard.
But, do you know what? Dinner time bridges all of the gaps. Old eats with young and a mess is made and tummies are filled. We laugh, we argue, we get annoyed, we ask for seconds.
Dinner time is where it is at in my house!
