End Food Waste With “From Garbage to Gourmet”!
Food waste is a topic near and dear to my heart. We feed eight on a modest single income. I come from a family that wasted nothing. . .I remember eating tongue (shiver). I was delighted to have a preview copy of “From Garbage to Gourmet” appear in my email inbox. It is raising my frugal ways to the next level!
The statistics show that the average American family wastes 25% of what they buy at the grocery store. That means that for our family, with our average weekly grocery budget of $160. . .we throw $40 of food away each week! This is a staggering number!
I first met blogger/author Carrie Isaac a few years ago when she introduced me to her Grocery University Program. It changed the way that I thought about sales, stocking up, and coupons.
Once again, Carrie is teaching me new ways to save!
From garbage to Gourmet helps me to useĀ everything that I buy!
Did you know that up to 49% of the weight of fresh broccoli that you buy at the grocery store is stems? Do you like broccoli stems and your family gladly snaps them up. If so, you are lucky. If not, you need From Garbage to Gourmet!
Or, consider the house full of toddlers who take one bite of apple and discard the rest?
Or, what can I do with all of those vegetable peels?
How about that half a can of tomato paste?
What about the leftover coffee . . . and the coffee grounds?
From Garbage to Gourmet features:
- 118 pages of never-before published content
- 81 original recipes that are delicious ways to use up things people normally throw away (broccoli stalks, onion skins, potato peels anyone?)
- Includes printable versions of all the recipes (not included in the page count – there are over 190 pages in this book when you count the printable recipes!)
- Over 37,000 words
- Beautiful full-color, magazine-style format
- Includes ingredient index so you can quickly find ways to use a particular item
I have to tell you, this is a beautiful ebook, and it was an absolute pleasure to read. I’ve already been inspired to start my own broth bucket, and I bet you will be too!
This book is great for the already frugal cook, as I’m sure there are things you are not aware of, and Isaac shares 81 easy, tasty and innovative recipes.
Your piggy bank (and your husband) will thank you!
From Garbage to Gourmet sells for $9.99 BUT today and tomorrow (March 6 & &) it will sell for 50% off . . . $4/99! On Friday the price will increase to $7.99 for the month of March!
Trust me! You need this eBook! (Later today I’ll show you something delightful that I made with leftover coffee!)

Love this! My mom was just telling me a few years ago about a cookbook she used to have that showed you how to turn your leftovers into other meals, so this is great also!
Yes! It is great, and I like that it is not “leftover casserole” type stuff, but food my family would really like.

I was a nanny for a European family a long time ago, but I distinctly remember the face of my family’s mom when I chopped off the broccoli stalk and went to throw it away. “We eat that!” she said, and a lightbulb went off. I’ve cooked up many broccoli stems ever since.
I like broccoli stalks, raw, with ranch dip. The rest of my family is not convinced.

Oh, boy…I really try not to impulse purchase, but I thought for five bucks, why not? I hate wasting food, so here’s hoping it’s really awesome.

This is great. With so many people around the world not being able to eat at least 3 times a day, we should be thankful and resourceful of what we have.

I know we throw away too much food from our almost embarrassingly large grocery budget. This is one of the things that I’m working on. Hoping this book helps.
I hear you on the embarassingly large grocery budget. We like good food, so our family needs to be better stewards of it!

I still couldn’t find a way to convince my mother-in-law to cook less, especially soup. She throws away weekly at least 3 portions!
