Every Mom Needs Business Cards
This morning, on my way out the door for a last day of school playdate, I posted a quick teaser on my facebook page about a fun little thing that every mom needs. I asked for guesses.
You ladies are pretty smart because I do need coffee, and wine, and chocolate, and yes, Essie, maybe even Xanex!
But a really simple, practical, fun thing moms need are business cards. Yes, you read that correctly. Moms need business cards.
Those of you who worked outside the home before kids know how valuable business cards are. A quick note and a card and a new contact has your information. I remember how professional my first set of cards made me feel!
My friend Becky is a huge fan of the bookProfessionalizing Motherhood: Encouraging, Educating, and Equipping Mothers At Home. She refers to us moms as her co-workers. And, in a way, we are. We are all doing the same job. We might do it in different ways, and we certainly are not earning a paycheck, but when we think of it in professional terms, we stand up a bit taller and take pride in the work we do in our children’s lives!
So we need business cards. We need them to hand to new moms we meet at the playground or at line in the grocery store. We need them so we can enter for the free lunch at the Chinese restaurant. We need them so we can tuck them into children’s backpacks so that when they are at a friend’s house and forget their phone number, they can easily access it. We need business cards so that we feel more professional!

I think I would choose the rounded corners because they look the easiest to carry around and give out! I think it is wonderful to think of ourselves as professionals, now just to get the husband to understand that!
Cute idea – I like for free lunches!
Oh I love the idea of a business card. I did not even think of the awesome part of a free lunch. I do think how much easier it would be to “trade” that information with other moms you meet at the park, gymnastics, the Y, ect. I could have whole stack of business cards of moms to call for our co-worker meetings.
HA! So you did get my Tweet!
*giggle*
I love the slim cards with rounded edges.

This is a great idea and they are so nice looking. In the past I have just hand written my info on blank cards. These would be so much nicer.
I can’t decide whether I like the squares or the rounded end ones better.

This is a great idea! Who’s to say moms don’t need business cards? I really like the leaf shapes. Oh i can’t wait to create my own designs!
Even those of us who no longer have little ones need business cards! Easy to pass information to new friends.
You know, I’ve seen this before and filed it away for future reference. Apparently, the future is here because suddenly we are hearing words like “playdate” and “party invitation.” Makes it really easy to give info to people who need it – other parents, a teacher, your child in case they forget. Never thought of the free lunch – duh.
