Rally for Religious Freedom, 3/23/12
I’m not very political here on my blog. I may or may not be off blog, those that know me in person may have varied opinions. But there is one thing that is a fact, and I maintain on this blog. I am EXTREMELY Pro-Life. So, it was a given that the twins and I would be attending today’s Rally for Religious Freedom today at noon at the North Dakota Capitol grounds. In the spirit of full disclosure, as a wife of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod pastor, who participates in a church sponsored health insurance plan, this debate is VERY relevant to me.
So, today we loaded up the Instep Grand Safari and traveled a long mile from our home.
OK, in the spirit of full, full disclosure: not only is this an actual issue near and dear to my heart, Dakotapastor was asked to give the opening prayer.
There was a great turnout…over 700 people, carrying signs, gathering peacefully.
In case you were wondering, this was not an “all male panel”. In fact, this event was organized by two moms…like you and me!
Look at all the kids that were there! Don’t bother looking for the twins in that photo though…
They were too busy proving their mad skills at scaling the Capitol steps…”All by myself!”
You can listen to the audio here…scroll down to the Stand Up Rally. The whole thing is recorded, but the best part is the talk by Father Chad Gion. It was a Stand Up Rally for sure!
My husband went to this too! He saw the Knights of Columbus out his window from work and went to see it. He said it was very good. I love Fr. Chad! He’s an amazing speaker.
It was the first time I had heard him, but I can see why people enjoy him. Plus, he seems to really know his stuff!

Thanks for supporting such a good cause! That is one thing I miss about ND all the good people that stand up for what they believe in. The funny thing is over the years I have been very involved in different organizations and people ask why? And always tell them because of my ND roots are to blame.

The problem with Church doctrine, as with all religious doctrine, is that although it is supposed to contain the Truth, the doctrine always has to be interpreted.
Yes, which is why every doctrine should be backed up by God’s Word in the Bible.

Which is why respecting religious freedom is important. If there was only one interpretation and everyone agreed with it, there would be no need to protect religious freedom.
Exactly!
