Messy Monday: Back into the Twins’ Room!
The thing with a toddler bedroom, is that a toddler lives in there. Toddlers have no sense of order. And the thing is, I have a set of twin toddlers. I’d love to say that my house would be clean if there were no toddlers in my home, but that would be a lie.
So, last night, in a rare moment of being the only person at home, I entered their room, with a trash bag and a laundry basket.
This was our “before” picture.
I began by making the bed (that always makes a huge difference). Then I picked up the toy food, folded baby blankets, picked up 875 bits of play food, and threw out a bunch of random junk. Then I swept. Ahhh!
Ahh, much better! But, guess what the crowning achievement was? Keep reading:
Yes, that is right! That is an empty dresser top! And trust me, it totally improves the whole feel of the room. As you can see, it is the very first thing you see when passing by the room. . .and now it is not a surface precariously piled with junk!
Yay! So, what messes did you clean up this week? Link up and share over at Weak and Loved!
Open drawers is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. And doors and cabinets. My husband thanks I’m nuts. Mommy confession: I sometimes don’t go upstairs all day just to avoid my girls’ rooms and bathroom. (Our bedroom is downstairs). I’m so afraid of what I’ll see. And? As soon as I organize, clean and straighten, they mess it all back up.
My room! I used to roll my eyes at those HGTV makeovers of the husband/wife bedroom – I’ve become one of those.
I made it through a pile of books that I needed to price and get to the church bookstore, wrote quickie reviews, and then an email to the bookkeeper to see if I’d ever turned in receipts for them. The room could be better, but it’s getting there!
My room is an embarrassment.

My messes will be cleaned up tomorrow. The kids will be cleaning their rooms, too. BIG TIME. Or, I could just have you come and clean for us.

What an amusing post. No doubt the dresser top already has something on it. I pick up the same things everyday around our house, and it just isn’t the boys who are leaving things out. Their dad is just as bad as they are. What a shame they don’t follow my example instead of his. LOL.
The dresser now has their clean laundry on it. But I’m not complaining, because William and aowen, washed, dried, and folded that laundry.
