Today I gave a presentation to about 35 professionals in the Bismark Mandan area about blogging for business. Blogging Lunch and Learn

I’m a blogger and therefore, probably biased, but I think every business can benefit from having a blog!

So I spoke about how having a blog puts a “face” on your business, and how it can be one more part of your social media strategy.

Blogging For Business

Today, I’ll tell you a few reasons why your business needs a blog. In future posts, we’ll discuss the logistics of setting up a blog, and filling it with helpful content.

  • Consumers expect a “live” online presence.

Previous generations were content to glean information from newspapers, magazines and television ads. Generations X, Y and Z are glued to smartphones, tablets and other sources of instant information. These generations want timely, useful information. If they see it on the internet, they tend to believe it, which is not always a good thing. As a business, you can capture their attention with information that they can use.

  • Corporate Websites are not easy to update.

Most corporate websites have professional designers and may even have a nice, slick user interface, but they are not easy to update, or change. Therefore, they are static. While this professionally designed website might serve a great informational purpose, there is little reason for a consumer to return, unless product or service information changes often.

  • If your website today looks the same way that it did three months ago, why would customers keep coming back to your website?

A blog is a great way to easily update your website. It lets your customers know that there is an real human behind the computer screen and that you care about them.

  • Blogging helps with your SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

The more often your website is updated, the more often search engines get pinged with your information, and you will see an improvement in your page rank. Updating your blog often helps you and your business.

Chime in! What are some ways you have seen blogging work well on corporate websites? What do you look for in a business blog?
