Summer Fun on the Prairie
Summer is in full swing here! Today the middle boys had their very first tennis lessons, and our calendar is already beginning to fill up with play dates, day camps, church camp, scout camp, a Boy Scout High Adventure Trek, and of course, our family vacation!
I have a few goals this summer. As usual, I want to keep my kids reading. Tomorrow I’ll share their summer reading lists. I’m teaching my kids to clean the house. And I want us to have fun right in our backyard!
A few weeks ago I took the younger kids on a trip to the mall to get a sneak peek of one of North Dakota’s treasures! The Burning Hill Singers from the Medora Musical were making their way west on their way to Medora, ND. I’ve fallen in love with the Medora Musical over the past few years. As you know, the only North Dakotans by birth who live in our home are the twins, but the rest of us are here by choice. We love our little life here on the prairie. The Musical makes me feel so proud to call this beautiful state my home!
As you can see, we got to the mall a little early, which gave the girls plenty of time to pick at each other . . . literally. But, once the music started, the girls were mesmerized!
We’ve also had the chance to take our first (non urban) hike of the season on Memorial Day. We pretty much ended up hiking in two groups; the boys went on ahead and the girls were troopers hiking the entire uphill trail with Dakotapastor and me! Kids love to be outside, and hiking is a great time to spend time together. Hiking out on the prairie is decidedly different than hiking in Minnesota. One of the biggest differences was that we saw a snake on the side of the trail this time! eek!
I look forward to sharing more of our summer adventures with you! I’d love to see what you are up to as well!
p.s. Did you notice that PicMonkey has rolled out their collage builder feature?
Chime in! What kind of close to home fun have you been having already this summer?
Glad you had time to settle down at the mall before the performance began. I hate being in the back too
. The hike looks wonderful! Even the lil girls hiked. Impressive! Our summer activities are just taking evening walks after dinner and the playground on the weekends. And lots of yard sales! I did notice they rolled out collages. How convenient!
