Techie Thursday: Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day, Review and Giveaway
Two weeks ago, Ruckus Media Group released their newest learning app, “Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day”. It is their second Hasbro interactive storybook, and the first My Little Pony book.
My little girls are a bit young for this storybook at 21 months, yet they still have a lot of fun watching the animations and listening to the story being read. This is an app that they can grow into, and there are endless possibilities for repeat play.
There are Three modes to the application:
- Read to Me in which a narrator reads the story to the child and the child is prompted to swipe to turn the pages.
- Read the Book: The child reads the book herself and swipes to turn pages.
- Read and Record: In this mode you have to option to have a parent, grandparent, older sibling or friend read the story. This is also great for a reader trying to improve oral reading skills as she can hear herself read the story. I love this option for families with a deployed parent, or a parent who travels a lot for work, the comforting sound of that parent’s voice at bedtime would be wonderful! Or how about you talk grandma into recording herself reading next time she visits!
There are fun learning activities interspersed that vary according to the skill of the user and are randomized, making the game endlessly playable.
I particularly enjoyed the “Meet the Ponies” feature, as I was a little too old for My Little Pony when I was growing up, and I want to be familiar with them as my girls get more interested in them. I can already sense that AppleJack may be one of my favorites!
The colors are bright and appealing, the soundtrack is interesting without being annoying to adults.
Do you want to win a copy? I have five to give away! Make sure you fill out the Rafflecopter form if you want to be entered to win!
My Little Pony fans can also tune in to the animated series “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM EST and Fridays and Mondays at 1:30 PM on The Hub TV network. I know we’ll be tuning in!
